All applicants must complete a medical self-declaration and get a Medical Report and Vision Test. Every 2 years you will need:
- Resting ECG (up to age 45)
- Cardiologist supervised Exercise ECG (over 45)

New applicants should bring a Brief patient summary
from their GP surgery with reports for any health condition e. g. “childhood murmur” – even if you are well.
Please bring your Spectacles even if you use contact lenses.

GP records include information about your medicine, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results, hospital discharge summaries, appointment letters, and referral letters.

White Coat Hypertension
If you have raised blood pressure at medicals then please abstain from alcohol, caffeine, fizzy and herbal drinks for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. It may be a good idea to bring along your own BP machine with 2 week’s twice-a-day readings.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
If your BMI is over 35, you will require further investigations. Any certificates may be time limited.

How long is the examination?
The appointment can be 30-90 minutes.
When will I get my certificate?
Provided all is satisfactory, Medical certificates will be provided after completion of medical assessment.

Decrease in medical fitness
If you become unwell you must seek advice as soon as possible. Meanwhile you must NOT exercise any privileges of the licence.
